Building Strategic Resilience for Women in Politics and Public Life
Women in politics and public service today step into an arena that is increasingly visible, more polarized, and more volatile. The risks they face are no longer limited to policy disagreements or electoral competition. Gender-based political violence—online harassment, reputational smears, disinformation, professional obstruction, exclusion from decision-making spaces, and at times physical intimidation—has become a structural feature of political life in many democracies.
These attacks are rarely spontaneous. They follow patterns. They exploit predictable lines of vulnerability. And they are increasingly amplified by digitally enabled networks of gender backlash that intersect with security debates, electoral narratives, and geopolitical competition,
This course begins from a simple premise: resilience is not accidental. It is strategic.
At the center of the training is the Self-Assessment of Vulnerability to Gender-Based Political Violence—a structured diagnostic tool developed from comparative research and field experience across diverse political contexts. Rather than treating women’s experiences as isolated incidents, the tool helps participants see the broader architecture of risk. Through guided reflection, participants examine their exposure across three interconnected dimensions:
• Personal (identity markers, family exposure, digital footprint, narrative framing)
• Professional and political (career trajectory, party positioning, past decisions, alliances)
• Social and environmental (polarization levels, media ecosystems, online dynamics, local power structures)
These are not weaknesses. They are potential attack vectors—points that can be activated in competitive or polarized environments. Identifying them early enables leaders to shape communication strategically, anticipate reputational risks, and design mitigation plans before crises erupt.
The training combines analytical input with facilitated peer exchange, risk mapping, and scenario-based exercises. In a half-day format, participants gain clarity and practical tools. In a full-day session, they develop individualized resilience strategies. In the two-day intensive, we go further by integrating crisis simulation, media navigation, institutional positioning, and alliance-building.
This course is designed for women considering entering politics, those currently serving in public office, senior advisors, and organizations committed to strengthening women’s leadership in public life.
The environment is shifting. Narratives are hardening. Digital ecosystems reward outrage. Institutional cultures can tighten under pressure. In such a context, resilience is not about enduring silently. It is about understanding the terrain, positioning strategically, and acting deliberately.
This program helps women leaders do exactly that. Let’s connect and explore how we can support your work and strengthen resilience in your context. Email us at info@perseveras.com. We look forward to the conversation.
